hamita Shetty has grown up in an environment that has nourished her with a sense of business and creativity. After beginning her studies in Commerce at Sydhenem College, the call of her creative side was too strong to ignore. Fascinated by colour, designs and the impact of new creations on human psychology, Shamita switched to Fashion Designing at S.N.D.T and got her diploma in 3 years. lace wigs
Destiny brought her the opportunity of a lifetime with an offer to be launched in the Indian film industry by one of its most respected studios and talented filmmakers: Yashraj Films and Aditya Chopra. After making her debut in “Mohabbatein”, Shamita made a career of Bollywood films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu allowing her to travel and experience the cultural foundations that have become world landmarks and draw people in by their essence. After a period where the roles on offer were less satisfying and an era of the ensemble cast reigned at the box office, Shamita chose to further her journey and break away from film for another art form.
She began painting and also brought a unique vision to her work which impressed those around her and landed her the opportunity to design the interiors of a prominent nightclub acquired by her family. Breathing life into the interiors of her pet project, aptly titled “Royalty”, Shamita worked diligently with an obsession to detail and creating an ambience that would be subtle, inviting and prestigious. Exhausted and craving more projects like this to satiate her appetite for creating experiences, Shamita sought to explore her new skill through educating herself about every technical aspect of the craft. She enrolled in the Inchbald School of Design and Central Saint Martins to study Interior Design and Decoration (London). After successfully completing this course, Shamita headed back to Mumbai and interned with a leading Architect and Designer for a year before starting her own company, Golden Leaf Interiors.
Having studied architecture in London, traveled the globe and worked closely in creating projects in Mumbai, Shamita Shetty carved her unique vision through bringing a contemporary feel to universally loved classic architecture. She is a firm believer that the environment we choose to be in should be an extension of our personality and help balance our aura through complementing tones, designs and structures.
“Each and every experience in my life has been very enriching and fulfilling, adding new dimensions to my creativity and resulted in the interior design creations that are channeled through Golden Leaf,” says Shamita.
“I believe Interiors have to be aesthetically pleasing, practical, and comfortable reflecting the clients personality because that’s the space they choose to exist in, and so everything should be of their choosing. There are subtle techniques, which can add flair and panache to a room enhancing the mood of the occupier without them noticing these design choices. Interior design is a blend of creativity, science and psychology and it is my vision to satisfy every element of these creating the ultimate experience for our clients.”
